Prof. Samir K. Brahmachari is a distinguished scientist and academic, recognized for his groundbreaking contributions to the fields of genomics, molecular biology, and biophysics. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (Hons.) and a Master of Science in Chemistry (Specialization: Physical Chemistry) from the University of Calcutta, followed by a Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

Founding Director, CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (1997–2007):

Prof. Brahmachari established the CSIR-IGIB as one of India’s leading institutes in genomics, where cutting-edge research on human genetics and disease mechanisms continues to shape the Indian scientific landscape.
Advisory Roles and Global Leadership:
Prof. Brahmachari has served as a member of several prestigious advisory boards and scientific committees. Notably, he has been on the International Advisory Panel of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Advisory Board of the Global Research Alliance, and the Council of the Human Genome Organization (HUGO).

Director General, CSIR (2007–2013)

As the Director General of CSIR, Prof. Brahmachari oversaw several transformative projects, including national initiatives in genomics and biotechnology. Under his leadership, CSIR achieved significant advancements in molecular biology and open-source drug discovery.

Open Source Drug Discovery (OSDD)
